Astro’s Playroom Grand Tourist Trophy Guide

Other ways to defeat enemies are by jumping and hovering above them and hitting them with Astro’s lasers. There are a few areas where specific weapons like bows and arrows can be used to shoot explosive barrels, a clever way to get the player used to the new norm of adaptive triggers. Astro’s Playroom is a technical demo and free platforming game bundled with every PlayStation 5, and the gaming community could not get enough of its cutesy art style and homage to the brand’s history. Japan Studio wanted to give early users a taste of the hardware’s capabilities and showcase the improvements of the DualSense controller to give them a definitive next-gen experience. The “Hell Diver” Trophy, awarded for jumping off the tallest diving board at the end of Bot Beach. Hold X To Jump Higher And Longer

I had a bunch of games and PS+ when I got my PS5 but I still played through 100% of this and got the Platinum before I even got to any of them. Every level has tons of retro tech to collect and store in the PlayStation Labo. In every level of the game, a little piece of PlayStation’s history is hidden in many nooks and crannies. Whether it’s more recognizable products like the Memory Cards, or historic handheld devices like the PlayStation Portable, they all get stored in the Labo as a form of nostalgic lookback. What caught me off guard the most was the hub area, CPU Plaza, having surprise platforming sections along its walls that spring to life instantly.

Find release dates and scores for every major upcoming and recent video game release for all platforms, updated several times per week. Astro’s Playroom has received a surprise update that adds the PS5 Pro and other PlayStation accessories to the game’s gacha machine. Astro’s Playroom launched over four years ago, but developer Team Asobi has since released a few updates for the fan-favorite game. Hopefully, this has helped you to get the most out of the free PS5 platformer.

When you get to the Checkpoint just after the Uncharted easter egg, head around the corner of the cliff to find a reporter pointing out a black painting on the rock. The symbols above the soldiers refer to the rhythm-based nature of the gameplay to help take on large beasts. Immediately to the left of the Wires that start this level is a water tank showing a Bot in a shark tank that’s circled by two dangerous Pirhanas.

Platinum Trophy

The game also has one of the easiest platinum trophies on PS5, so completing all levels can be quite rewarding as well. Running at a smooth 4K 60fps, Astro’s world may not be massive and require huge draw distances or populate the screen with hundreds of enemies, but it’s certainly pretty. Natural environments come together with PS5 internal parts and other pieces of hardware in a beautiful blend of the environmental with the technological. A grassy plain looks beautiful in 4K, only for the plants to be topped with PlayStation face button symbols rather than flowers. A rocky wall you need to climb has cliffs jutting out that… are actually recreations of trigger buttons. It is yet another sign of Team Asobi’s dedication to imbuing Astro with a sense of nostalgic fun when coming across the many ways they insert PlayStation references into the world.

The two characters are Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, while the lab coat Bot is series villain Albert Wesker. The door is a reference to show the game hid loading times, by showing a shot of a door opening to disguise the load between rooms. When entering the first wide open area, jump to the island on the left with a circle of Bots on it, one of which is wearing a purple beanie. The purple beanie refers to character Ashley Brown, while the one next to it with classes is Christopher Hartley. Also right after the third Hang Glider use, look for a lower area to jump down to near the ramp with the Wires sticking out. Here you’ll see a Bot with a triangular object on its head pulling a hapless victim.

At its best, Astro’s Playroom recaptures the magic of my favorite Lego video games – except the license on display is the PlayStation brand instead of something like Star Wars or Marvel. The cameos are plentiful and amusing, with franchises that go beyond the first-party catalogue, along with some surprisingly deep cuts that made me feel very old. But in the midst of all that history, Astro feels like an adorably fresh face; I’m glad to see the character break out of the confines of VR and reach out to a broader audience.

For PlayStation die-hards, a run through Astro’s Playroom will be true bliss. When you return to the main hub area of Astro’s Playroom, the gigantic PS5 Pro will be displayed next to the base PS5, with a little Astro Bot perched on top. The game does not force us to go through each location in a specific order. In our guide, we divided these locations based on the chronology of the PlayStation generations. Find an up-to-date list of every game available in the Xbox Game Pass (and PC Game Pass) library at all membership levels, and find out which games are coming soon and leaving soon.

The case also allows you to charge the earbuds, which is what the light bar on the bottom of it is for. The “Slim” model of the PlayStation 5 is 30% smaller than the launch model and replaces the front USB “Standard-A” port with a second “Type-C” port. Perhaps the most significant adjustment is that the Digital Edition could be upgraded with a disc drive, which the launch model was unable to do. The strapline used in Astro’s Playroom is a cheeky reference to media confusion regarding what the Processor Unit actually did, initially thought to give the PS4 extra processing power for VR titles.

It also shows you all your collectibles – aka the bots – scattered throughout it, unlike the Playroom, which leaves all its collectibles – the artifacts – in one room. Astro’s Playroom has always been the PS5’s best friend, as it is a free demo of what the console and its controller are capable of. What took everyone off guard back when the PS5 was released, however, is that the silly little tech demo inside the console was actually a banger of a game.

The “Cool Hoarder” Trophy, awarded for getting all the Puzzle Pieces in Cooling Springs, is named after 1996 PS1 game Cool Boarders, developed by UEP Systems. Cool Boarders was one of the most popular PS1 games, spawning four sequels. ” Trophy, awarded for getting hit by flying rubbish in Memory Meadow. The PULSE Elite Wireless Headset is a premium version of the PULSE 3D Wireless Headset that carries over its noise-cancelling tech, and has the same magnetic driver tech as the PULSE Explore earbuds.

And yet, even when Astro is pulling off his most basic moves in familiar environments, this game feels revelatory. The PS5’s new controller combines a built-in speaker with vibrating haptics to make interacting with the world feel like it’s literally happening in your hand. Astro running across a sandy beach sounds and feels completely different than running on a fluffy cloud, for example.
